Weekly Roundup #2

If you’re reading this, that can only mean one thing: YOU MADE IT TO THE WEEKEND. Congrats! That’s a handsome achievement, these days.

We hope you had an excellent week – if it was anything like ours, I’m sure busy is an understatement. In case you missed anything, here’s our second installment of our Weekly Roundup series.

Let’s talk about what went down, shall we?

Weekly Roundup #2

First up in the news department, there wasn’t a whole lot to mention this week, in terms of major breaking stories. We did get a second round of Pixel 2 leaks, which seemingly confirms that Google is killing the headphone jack.

What’s that you say? You’re not happy about that? Make sure to stop by our weekend poll and discussion thread to let us know about it.

We also found out Sony’s video game streaming service, PlayStation Now got a slew of new PS4 games added to its library. 19 new games, to be exact. Unfortunately, this month’s lineup isn’t quite as stellar as July’s.

Smokin’ new apps

Just because there wasn’t much new to report, that doesn’t mean we weren’t active. In fact, we discovered a bunch of new apps this week.

Tony did a roundup of 10 great Android camera apps, we brought you some games you can play without an Internet connection, and we found a kickass way to play Classic NES ROM’s on our Chromecast.

Oh, and the Google Camera app got an update that brings HDR+ along with it, as well.

Our App of the Week Award goes to…

We didn’t do this last week, but we’re going to make a habit of doing so, moving forward. There’s always that one app that stands out from the crowd, outshining its peers.

This week, we give that nod to one of the best apps we’ve had the pleasure of downloading in quite some time: Sesame Shortcuts. We did a nice feature on it, so be sure to check that out. Also, you should follow the Sesame crew on Twitter – those dudes are cool AF.

It’s also worth mentioning that a new update rolled out for Sesame the other night, which brought a nifty new Quick Search function along with it. Make sure to check the Google Play Store for said impending update.

If you’re too lazy to read our feature post and just want in on the action, here’s a link to Sesame on the Google Play Store.

New games incoming

This week brought the launch of Titanfall: Assault, and we also found out that Gameloft is prepping a new title, called Modern Combat Versus. You can pre-register to get a notification when that one goes live on Google Play.

The ol’ review desk

Our product reviews are finally starting to make their way to the public.

This week, we took a look at a few cool items, including a badass GAMDIAS gaming keyboard, an Insignia tripod Tony bought for taking better pictures, and the Anypro Aluminum Headphone Stand.

We also got our hands on the Lenovo Tab 4 8 and Tab 4 10, which we’ll be doing full reviews up here in the coming days. Check out our unboxing of the 8-inch model below.

Onward to Week 3

As we usher out with Weekly Roundup #2 and roll into our third week of existence, I’d like to thank each and everyone of you reading this for stopping by.

I can’t stress this enough: You’re the reason we keep doing what we do.

If you could, be sure to help us spread the word about AU with your Android circles and tech friends, it’d be greatly appreciated.

And I almost forgot to mention, we’re on Instagram now, too! Here’s all of our links:

It’s hard out here on the mean streets of the Internet for a new site, but you guys have made it a little less difficult, and we love you for that. Thanks again!

Stay tuned here on Android Unfiltered, kids. We’ll see ya soon!
