Substratum theme engine isn’t new, but we’ve yet to feature it here on the site. In case you’re unfamiliar, it’s an app that allows you to fully customize your Android phone with Substratum themes. You can theme your keyboard, menus, navigation bar, and notification sounds. And you can do so relatively easy with “Subs”, as many folks call it.
Substratum works with devices running Android 7.0 Nougat and greater. However, there are instances where you’ll need either root or a companion app to get it working.
Substratum itself is free, while both add-ons run $1.99 a piece. You likely won’t need to buy both right now, as there are no Samsung devices running Oreo at this time. And as a reminder, you can get Google Play Store cash for free, so you may not have to pay anything at all, out-of-pocket.
There are a number of free Substratum themes on the Play Store, but there are even more (reasonably-priced) paid themes, as well. And with the size of the Substratum theme engine community, we’re going to see a ton of awesome offerings for years to come.
Speaking of their community, Subs is all over the Internet:
I’ve only just begun toying with this one, but we’ll be on the lookout for feature-worthy themes to share here with our friends and family.
If you’re a theme developer and would like to have your work put on display here for the world to see, head over to the Contact page and drop us a line.
Happy theming, Y’all!
