I’ll give my standard headphone review disclaimer before we begin: I’m an audiophile, yes, but by no means am I gonna throw a bunch of technical mumbo jumbo at you here. I’ll list the specs as best I can, then I’ll give you a look at the Q30’s, along with my real-world, end-user thoughts about them.

Spoiler alert: They’re worth every penny of the $29.99 they’ll run you on Amazon.

Design and comfort factor

The SoundPEATS Q30’s consist of two earbuds encased in a metallic housing with a NANO coating, and are connected by one wire that drapes around the back of your neck. There’s a volume control and power switch mechanism about two inches down on the left side of the headphones. The back of each metallic housing contains a magnet, which is pretty nice because it keeps the headphones together around your neck when you’re not wearing them.

SoundPEATS Q30 Magnetic Casing

Anytime I review a pair of headphones, and especially so with earbuds, the first and most important thing that comes to mind is the comfort factor. I don’t give a damn how good the music sounds – if they’re not comfortable to wear, I can’t rock them. The Q30’s are surprisingly comfortable out of the box for me. And if they’re not for you, don’t fret.

There’s a slew of different sized tips for the earbuds that come along with the Q30’s. From extra small all the way up to extra large, it’s a safe bet to assume there’s a pair that’ll fit you comfortably. Also included are three different size wing-tips that sit on your ears. I’ll be honest here – I took mine off immediately. They’re just not for me, but it’s nice they’re there for those who prefer to use them.

It’s also worth noting that the Q30’s are rated IPX Level 4 and can withstand dripping sweat, which makes them an excellent option for runners, bicyclists or anyone else with an active lifestyle.

Setup

Connecting the Q30’s to your device is simple. You put them into pairing mode by starting with the headphones powered off. Press and hold the power button til the device’s LED light flashes, then you scan for the headphones on the device you’re connecting to and link them via Bluetooth as you would any other Bluetooth connection.

Sound Quality

You get what you pay for more often than not, and in the case of the SoundPEATS Q30’s, you get a damn good deal, in terms of sound quality. They sound great at all volume levels, but they’re a bit intense at full blast for these old ears. 75% is my sweet spot for when I’m rocking out.

There’s a bit of sound leakage with the earphones in and turned up, but it’s not a deal-breaker at this price point. Another thing I’d add is that they’re not overly bassy, but that’s fine by me, as well. The bass is there, but it’s not Earth-shaking by any means. I only mention it here because I’m struggling to come up with negative points in my review.

Overall, I enjoy the Q30’s sound quality, and I think you will too. They get the job done.

Wrap-up and final rating

Again, I can’t stress how great these headphones are for less than $30. They aren’t waterproof, like the Leophile EEL’s, but they’re a bit less costly. Battery life is as advertised, with about 8 hours per full charge, and it does take about an hour to two to charge them. I gotta give the Q30’s my seal of approval, and I highly recommend you pick up a pair if you’re in need of some great-sounding tunes for your next workout sesh.

Here’s our final rating, along with a link to the SoundPEATS Q30’s on Amazon, where again they’ll run you $29.99 at the time of this review. Pick up a pair. They won’t disappoint!
