It’s almost that time of year again, folks. The Galaxy Note 8 is right around the corner, as Samsung is sending out press invites to its ‘Unpacked’ event on August 23rd in NYC. And if I were a betting man, my money would be on Sammy praying to multiple deities that this year isn’t a repeat of last. If it is, the results could be disastrous for the Korean smartphone giant.
Of course, I’m rooting for Samsung to rebound. As an owner of multiple previous Galaxy devices, I’d be afoul to say I’m not a fan. I almost felt dirty for jumping ship to give the LG V30 a go last year, but that turned out to be a good idea, considering the Note 7 fiasco. I also passed up on the Galaxy S8/S8+ this year and opted for the LG G6 instead, but that doesn’t mean I’m off of the bandwagon for good.
Galaxy Note 8 Rumored Specs
If the rumored specs come to fruition, it might be time to break out the old “Shut up and take my money” meme. Take a look.
- 6.3″ 18.5:9 AMOLED display of 1440p resolution or better with minimal bezels
- Snapdragon 835 / Exynos 8895 (US will likely see the Snapdragon model, while EU gets the Exynos, as usual.)
- 6GB of RAM
- Dual 12MP cameras on the back
- 3300mAh battery
- Rear-mounted fingerprint sensor
- Fast wireless charging
- S Pen
- DeX support
There’s no word on waterproof-ness, however it won’t be a surprise if it is. In fact, I’ll probably pass on it if it’s not. I spend a lot of time in the pool with my kids, and we take a lot of photos while we’re swimming. I’d rather not go back to not being able to do that.
Anyhoo, that’s all we’ve got for now. We’ll be sure to let you know when the Galaxy Note 8 is officially official. Until then, do you plan on picking one up at launch? Or, are you going to hold off to make sure the shit doesn’t hit the fan like last year? You know what to do. Hit us in the comment thread.
