The Google Pixel 2 is right around the corner, which means leak season is in full effect. Today’s leak backs up evidence from our post last week, where we stated that the Pixel 2 would likely come sans headphone jack and with thick bezels. Spoiler alert before we continue: If you were hoping we were wrong, you might not want to read the rest of this article.
These photos come by way of a tipster who sent them in to tech website GSMArena. It’s worth mentioning that these are likely early development units, so the final product may (and probably will) differ from these photos, even if just slightly.
Is this the Google Pixel 2?
As you can see, there’s just a single camera around back with a dual-LED flash. There’s talk of a Laser autofocus below the flash, but you can’t see it in these images, as they’re likely intentionally a bit blurry.
There’s also enough evidence in these pics that we can probably squash the idea that the Pixel 2 will has tiny bezels. These images appear to confirm Google has opted to stray from the increasingly popular trend of “less is more” in the bezel department.
I’m not sure how I feel about this after owning the LG G6, as I’ve grown quite fond of the extra screen space. For me, it just makes more sense to have as much of the phone’s face covered by usable screen as possible.
Lastly, these images definitely seem to confirm those front-facing speakers, which is likely the only positive takeaway from this round of leaks. It’s not to say I won’t buy a Pixel 2 – that depends solely on carrier availability, and more specifically, if it makes its way to T-Mobile.
