About a month ago, Google launched a new Play Music feature called, “New Release Radio”. It’s pretty much a radio station within the service that plays the latest music for listeners, based upon their taste. And while it sounded great — the feature was exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy S8, leaving many of us jealous on the sidelines.
NOW YOU CAN TRY OUT NEW RELEASE RADIO
That’s all a thing of the past, however, as New Release Radio is now available to all users. Paid subscribers, as well as users of the free service now have access it, according to Google. Their post says you can find the new feature across Google Play Music, or by searching for “New Release Radio”. I didn’t see it anywhere, but it turned up after a search. Once you find it, you can add it to your library so you don’t have to search for it again.
The personalization aspect is rather iffy for me, thus far. I listened to it for a few hours over the weekend, and I had to hit the ‘Thumbs Down’ button numerous times because I didn’t like the song playing. We’re in the early stages of things, however, so hopefully this’ll improve over time. It’s still good to see Google continue to expand the service, however, so I really can’t complain. And, the fact that the station is updated daily is an added bonus.
Google Play Music is available for free, with limited features. Google Play All Access, the paid version, runs $9.99 a month for single users and $14.99 a month for 6-member family plans. With that, you get access to unlimited music. New users also get a 30-day free trial before having to commit to a subscription. Additionally, GPM is available both in browser form and on Android. I threw in a download link below, just for shits and giggles.
