Latest Google Phone app update features native Duo video calls [APK Download]

Google Phone App Duo Calls

There’s been talk on the Internet in recent months that Duo integration was incoming for the Google Phone application. And the wait for this is now over, as I just got an update on my Pixel 2 that brings said feature along with it.

Google Duo video calling lets you chat with friends and family face-to-face, and it’s a surprisingly smooth experience. That said, I’m not a huge Duo user, but that’s only because I don’t know enough people using the service yet.

The new Phone app, version 14.0.175904292, allows users to initiate a Duo video call from the call log, search, or contacts card. And even cooler, you can also upgrade a voice call to a Duo video call without having to hang up and reconnect.

Additionally, this new version brings Enriched Calling on Rogers Canada (Share & Call and Post-Call Message), as well as bug fixes and performance enhancements.

The updated app is rolling out now on Google Play, but I’ve got an APK file you can sideload, sans the wait. I pulled this file from my Pixel 2 using APK Extractor, and it’s hosted on my Google Drive for your downloading pleasure.
