Google Assistant

Germany’s IFA – orĀ Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin – is under way, and the big G is on hand at the big trade show to showcase its virtual assistant. As such, the company says that Google Assistant will soon be available on a number of upcoming products. From speakers to new appliances, you’ll be able to use the service in an even bigger capacity than you can currently.

We know of at least three new Assistant-compatible speakers, as of the time of this post: the Zolo Mojo, from Anker, the TicHomeGA10, and the Panasonic GA10. We anticipate more speakers to debut throughout the IFA event, as well.

You can expect to see Google Assistant work exactly the same way that it does on Google Home on these third-party speakers, too. This means you’ll still be able to use multiple accounts on one speaker, and GA will still be able to distinguish your voice and know who it’s talking to.

Big or small, round or square, no matter what smart speaker fits into your house or your budget, your Assistant can help you get more done. These speakers will be coming out later this year and while availability may differ by device, most will be available in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Germany and France.

This is where things start to get really interesting. Apparently, manufacturers like LG are working to bring Google Assistant compatibility to a number of appliances, like washers, dryers, vacuums – even slow cookers – will soon be controllable with a simple “Ok Google…” command. The blog post contains no mention of specific devices, but I think you get the point.

We’ll be sure to keep an eye out for any major announcements on this front and let you know as we find out more solid info.

Happy Hump Day, y’all!

  1. Anker makes good quality, affordable products. I’ll be keeping my eye out on the Zolo Mojo to see if it’s less than purchasing another Google Home.

    • I love the Anker products I’ve used in the past, and will definitely be bugging them for a review unit once the Zolo Mojo drops.

      Thanks for stopping by, Rob!
