The Pixel 2 is right around the corner, and there’s absolutely no doubting that fact now, as Google is hyping an October 4th unveil. The tagline for the event and new marketing campaign asks potential buyers if they’re “thinking about changing phones”.
Additionally, there’s a signup page on the madeby.google.com domain where you can add your email to the list for notifications when the device launches.
Here’s a look at the teaser video for the upcoming event.
Pixel 2 announcement event teaser
Also confirming the upcoming event is the billboard you see in the feature image at the top of this post. Said image was taken on the mean streets of Boston and sent to the folks at Droid-Life.
There’s no word on an exact time or location for the Pixel 2 event just yet, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted on that front when there is. Hopefully, it’ll be an actual event this time around, unlike the announcement for Android 8.0, where we basically got to watch a live-streamed commercial.
At any rate, I’m pretty sure the next Pixel will be the newest addition to my lineup of tech. The LG G6 is a great phone, but I’m ready for something new. And considering the camera performance on the original Pixel devices and the immediate OS updates the device will certainly receive, the Pixel 2 is all but a no-brainer for me.
The only thing that worries me slightly as of right now is availability after launch. If you’re an OG Pixel owner, you likely know how tough it is to get your hands on one of those phones, be it from Verizon or directly from Google itself.
I guess we’ll have to wait and see. One thing is for sure, we’re not too far off now.
Stay tuned, family and friends!
